PLASTRUCT'S
SHOWCASE
"HALL of FAME"
We thought it would be fun and informative to share with you some models that are being built by our various customers using assorted PLASTRUCT products. With many of you sending in photos of your finished projects, we decided to start a page to showcase these wonderful models. So, we invite you to continue sending in pictures of the models you've made using PLASTRUCT materials. We plan on "Showcasing" projects on a regular basis. All customers are welcome, from the professional modelmaker to the architect to the hobbyist. We have found that whether you are a pro or scratchbuilder, the models are marvelous pieces of work and we would like to publish as wide a selection as possible. If you are interested in having your creative work displayed for all the web to see, kindly send us pictures of your model (email is preferred, but photos by mail are also welcome). Please provide some descriptional information about your model, a general list of Plastruct products used, along with your name and email address or phone number, so we can give the proper credits.
Our current Plastruct Product Showcase Model is an excellent example of creative Garden Railroad modeling featuring several Truss Bridges Built with the Plastruct "G" Scale Truss Bridge Kits and many additional Plastruct parts. This realistic Garden Railroad was built by Mr. John Walther of Paramus, NJ.
As the G scale Train travels on the "Through Plate Girder" Bridge", it passes over a lovely backyard stream. John chose to augment his Plastruct Kits to make each bridge a different length.
| The bridges were built using Plastruct Trackside Series KIT-4002. Additional Plastruct material was used to increase the size. The bridges, shown here unpainted, make the gusset plates very visible. |
Modelmakers committed to G scale (1:24) enjoy the size contrast with typical HO scale (1:87) railroad models. This photo gives you an appreciation of the size. The gentleman pictured with the bridge is 6' - 2" tall, we're just not sure if it's John! |
The scenic truss bridge is now fully installed and operating to perfection. The overhead view shows the train departing the actual length (8' - 4") Bridge, representing a 200 foot span.
This view shows the train entering the Bridge at eye level. Notice the catwalk John added to his bridge. John tells us that the catwalk was built using a 4' x 1/8" stock rod for the railing, a Plastruct T-8 for the railing support and gray ABS sheet cut to desired width and length for the planking.
What a great shot with the waterfalls in the background and the pond in the foreground. We can all see why John's garden railroad, located in Paramus, N.J., gives him great pleasure.
| Our thanks and appreciation to Mr. John Walther for submitting his Garden Railroad photos and for being so patient in our featuring them. |
